Trauma-focused support for adults
Assessment
I offer a detailed psychological assessment for adults experiencing a range of mental health difficulties following a traumatic experience/s.
During the assessment, we explore together the reasons why you are seeking support and what you hope to gain from therapy.
As part of the assessment, you may be invited to complete some standardised questionnaires which can aid my understanding of your current difficulties.
I work collaboratively with you in order to understand your individual experiences and the impact this is currently having on your life. An essential part of the assessment is also thinking together about whether I am the best person to give you the support that you need at this time, to explore whether I have the necessary skills to support you and if are we a good therapeutic 'fit'.
At the end of the assessment, I will share feedback and my professional view about what treatment may be helpful (if indicated).
Therapy
Therapy sessions are 50 minutes and usually take place weekly.
The therapy that I provide is goal-driven and time-limited.
Psychological difficulties that I can offer support with following trauma include Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), depression and low mood, anxiety, emotional dysregulation and sleep difficulties.
I use a range of NICE guidance informed therapies including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), EMDR, Compassion Focused Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
